What is the use of flexible polyurethane foam?

download_3

Polyurethane is a polymer, derived from a combination of polyol and isocyanate, extracted from petroleum. It is included in many plastics and everyday materials, but is most commonly associated with the form of polyurethane foam in foamed and flexible forms. What is the latter used for?

Properties of the flexible polyurethane foam

Flexible polyurethane foam comes in the form of boards, laggings, shapes and formats, commonly associated with sponges. R-type flexible re-foamed polyurethane foam is characterized by a wide range of density and therefore hardness, resistance to temperature changes, dust-free and air permeability, as well as inertness to pathogens.

T-type flexible foam has similar properties to R-type, except that it is most often dyed in different colors and finds much greater use as everyday objects.

Application of flexible polyurethane foams

The primary industry in which Type T foam is used is the furniture industry. The foam is used as filling for sleeping mattresses, backrests, armrests, which are then upholstered with fabric. It is also suitable as a filling for sports mattresses, jumpseats and as a safety material in transportation.

T-foams are durable and also resistant to damage. They are used as formers in play parks, rehabilitation equipment or acoustic foams. They are used to make toys, dishwashers, sports, rehabilitation or bedroom mattresses. Flexible polyurethane foams are used practically everywhere where a soft surface effect is needed.
